| So! I've been sort of seeing this guy since September. "Seeing" of course being the operative relative word, since he lives in Texas and we met online. We were "in a relationship" so to speak, that is, we really liked each other and so on, but it wasn't anything serious, largely because of the living in Texas thing. Well. This past week, he came up to visit me during his spring break and now, things are definitely serious. His name is Kyle. He's absolutely incredible...sweet and kind, but not whipped; a geek like me; charming and all of those things. We can sit and talk about anything for hours or be "less polite," and either way, we're happy. I've been kind of afraid to say anything about it because I know that my last couple of relationships have been, for lack of a better word, jokes, but I think Kyle and I have more of a base for our relationship than in the past. We've known each other longer and, well, it just works. Plus my parents love him and he loves my parents, which is always a good thing. So yeah. Here's hoping. ~Abby~ | | |
| According to the Christian liturgical calendar, today is Fat Tuesday OR Mardi Gras OR... Pancake Day. I've never been much of one for the liturgical calendar, having been raised more liberal in my faith. I only knew about Mardi Gras because it was on the news every February, but I never gave up something for Lent or celebrated Fat Tuesday in any other way, until I went to England. See, in England, people don't really eat pancakes as much. It's not a very pancake-y place. They have their breakfasts, to be sure, but said breakfasts usually consist of toasts and (surprise) English muffins and fruits and such. Pancakes are rare. Granted, we had them over there a lot, but we were American. Still, you don't see pancakes very often in England... ...until Fat Tuesday. Fat Tuesday is known in England as Pancake Day (no, IHOP did not just make this up, it is a real, honest-to-God holiday) where every single restaurant, pub and kiosk sells pancakes, pancakes, pancakes, all day long. People stuff themselves silly with pancakes. They even have pancake parties! (a tradition which my housemates and I gladly adopted, staying up well past 4 a.m. eating stacks of banana, apple cinnamon, chocolate chip and Nutella-and-peanutbutter pancakes) And then, those awesome Brits give up pancakes for Lent. I know I've told this story about a sprillion times in here, but I love it. It's one of those quirky things about England that you just miss when you've come back to the States. I wish today really was Pancake Day here so that I could go down to the nearest pub and get pancakes all day long. HAPPY PANCAKE DAY, EVERYONE!!! ~Abby~ | | |

I feel like I am six again. Dana, upon further inspection, you're right. Prince Eric is teh hawt and I would marry him in an instant. If only he wasn't two-dimensional. How pathetic is it that I barely shed two tears at the funeral today, and this movie has me bawling like a little baby? *sigh* Also, Sebastian is totally right. Under the Sea > anything on land. ~Abby~ | | |
| A girl who I graduated with in high school passed away last night from leukemia. I think it's time to call another moratorium on death. ~Abby~ | | |
